Civil Engineer/Site Designer
If you are a Civil Engineer or Designer in search of a values focused firm where you will have the ability to work on a wide range of projects for both private and government clients, HLS is the place where you can continue to grow professionally. You’ll make a difference with HLS as your work will directly affect the outcome of projects. The perfect candidate will have the flexibility to work on multiple tasks.
Responsibilities will include site layout, design of grading, roads, storm drains, utilities, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control/NPDES and preparation of the associated reports as needed to complete project assignments.
The ability to work efficiently in of AutoCAD to prepare plans, profiles, details, etc. is an absolute requirement. Experience on Microstation is a plus.
Candidate should have 5 years of experience including managing projects and coordinating directly with clients. Responsibilities include reviewing ordinances and regulations from jurisdictions involved in project to determine current project requirements and coordination with government agencies to discuss design assumptions and methodologies as well as to expedite approvals as necessary. Project management may include preparing project schedule and working with supervisor and other team members to assure projects are completed on schedule.
A successful candidate for the position will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with a team (and supervising other team members) to meet our client’s needs and exceed their expectations.
HLS accepts resumes for the following positions on an ongoing basis.
Civil Engineer with a minimum ten years of site and subdivision plan design experience. Knowledge of the plan approval and permitting process required. An ideal candidate will have experience supervising a design team and good communication skills.
5 years of site plan and subdivision plan experience required. Experience should include stormwater management, NPDES and sediment control plans and permitting, roadway, storm drainage, water and sewer design. This position requires proficiency in AutoCad. A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning or Environmental Science is preferred.
Survey Party Chief
Experience party chief with 10 years of property line, topographic and stakeout experience required.
Survey Instrument Man/Rodman
Will train a conscientious ambitious individual for this position. Some survey experience is a plus. A valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a high school diploma or GED is required for this position.
