Engineering & Land Survey Projects

Following is a short list of recent projects successfully executed by land planning, engineering, and land surveying professionals at Hanover Land Services.

Carroll County Public Transportation Facility
Carroll County, MD
This design-build project involved construction of a building and parking to house the operations of the Carroll County Public Transportation System for the Commissioner of Carroll County, Maryland. HLS coordinated with the County and the design-build team to obtain plan approval and provided the following project support:

• Performed value engineering
• Finalized site designs to complete construction of the project (Grading, SWM, Sediment Control, Forest Conservation)
• Guided project through the regulatory development process
• Coordinated with contractor and sub-contractors during construction
• Performed construction stakeout and SWM inspection/ certification

Family Dollar Store
Biglerville, PA
This 2012 design and construction project involved the development of a new Family Dollar Store for one of their preferred developers. HLS has since designed numerous store sites throughout Pennsylvania that are currently under construction and slated to open in early 2013. HLS worked to obtain plan approval and provided the following project support:

• Performed value engineering
• Finalized site designs to complete construction of the project
• Guided project through the regulatory development process
• Coordinated with contractor and sub-contractors during construction
• Performed construction stakeout

P-1 Parking Garage
Baltimore City, MD
The P-1 Parking Garage (slated to be completed early 2013) is one of the many projects associated with the East Baltimore Development Inc. (EBDI)redevelopment project. HLS participation with this project includes the following:

• Coordinating with the numerous contractors and sub-contractors to construct the structure
• Construction stakeout of the building structure, site utilities, grading
• Stakeout and monitoring of the sheeting and shoring
• As-built surveys and plans during construction

Maryland Public Health Laboratory
Baltimore City, MD
The Maryland Public Health Laboratory building, currently under construction, is part of the East Baltimore Development Inc. redevelopment project in downtown Baltimore. The project consists of the construction of a four story building adjacent to Johns Hopkins Hospital. HLS participation with this project includes the following:

• Coordinating with the numerous contractors and sub-contractors to construct the structure
• Construction stakeout of the building structure, site utilities, grading
• Stakeout and monitoring of the sheeting and shoring
• As-built surveys and plans during construction

East Baltimore Community School
Baltimore City, MD
The East Baltimore Community School project,located at 2100 Ashland Avenue in east Baltimore, recently began construction. The project consisted of the demolition of an entire block of row homes that will be replaced with a new school building. HLS participation with this project includes the following:

• Coordinating with the numerous contractors and sub-contractors to construct the structure
• Construction stakeout of the building structure, site utilities, grading
• Stakeout and monitoring of the sheeting and shoring
• As-built surveys and plans during construction

Building Permit Plans
Hanover, PA
Homeowners looking to construct a new house, addition, garage or swimming pool/ deck frequently employHLS to prepare Site, Grading, and Stormwater Management Plans in accordance with local jurisdictional requirements. HLS works to obtain plan approval and provids the following project support:

• Assist homeowner through the regulatory development process
• Coordinated with contractor during construction
• Perform construction stakeout

Establish Survey Control Network
Hanover Borough, PA
HLS created a survey control network, oriented to Pennsylvania State Grid (south) for the entire Hanover Borough limits, including outlining watersheds.  This network will be used to establish a GIS network for the Borough. 

St. John's Road West Reconstruction, Phase 1 & 2
Germany Township, PA
For phase 1, HLS prepared construction drawings to reconstruct the existing gravel/ dirt roadway.  Currently, HLS is preparing construction drawings to reconstruct the remaining portion of St. John's Road West.  This project required coordination with the existing utility companies to relocate utilities.  We also prepared right-of-way and easement plats for the existing properties to allow the work to be conducted.  HLS prepared specifications and provided bid and contract administration along with construction management and coordination for both phases (phase 2 to be completed in 2013).

Camp Archbald and Camp Small Valley Girl Scouts of America
Rural Pennsylvania
HLS performed topographic and boundary surveying services for two Girl Scout Camps located in central and north central Pennsylvania, Camp Archbald and Camp Small Valley, both consisting of several hundreds of acres, for future site planning. Services included setting aerial target locations and field locating these sites via GPSand locating aerial target sites around the property limits for aerial photogrammetry. Additionally, HLS supplemented the aerial topography by performing field run surveys to provide further detail and locate site utilities.
